Lucifer, Satan and Azazel

Differences between Lucifer, Satan and Azazel

Lucifer, Satan and Azazel

Commonly referred to as "angels," celestial entities are divided into orders and ranks. Each order is distinguished by the responsibilities assigned to it.

► Spirits: Each element that has movement is controlled by a spirit. As such, there is the spirit of the winds, the spirit of the clouds, the spirit of the sun, the spirit of the moon, etc.

► The higher order (the cherubim, the seraphim, the thrones)

► The middle order (the dominations, the powers, the authorities)

► The lower order (the archangels, the principalities, the angels)

The Bible teaches that Lucifer was a cherub.

  • Ezekiel 28: 14-15 "You were anointed as a guardian cherub."

The Cherubim belong to The Higher Order and are an intellectual movement that holds the throne of the Holy Trinity with respect. It's the leader of all movements. This order, which also includes the Seraphim and Thrones, is the order of the "high priests" because they uphold the throne of YAHWEH. The class of Cherubim is an intellectual movement. They are always mindful of their own class and those beneath them.

A careful reading of the Scriptures portrays an image of the cherubim in total opposition with the traditional image of cute baby cherubs as we know them. In the Bible, cherubim are mainly described in the likeness of scary animals with human features.

  • Ezekiel 10:15 "Then the cherubim rose upward. These were the living creatures I had seen by the River Kebar."

1. They have 4 wings with men's hands underneath each wing and accompanying wheels (called ophanims).

  • Ezekiel 1:5-7 "And within it was the form of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: They had a human form, but each had four faces and four wings. Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the hooves of a calf, gleaming like polished bronze."

2. They have four faces: that of a man, an eagle, a lion and a calf. The soles of their feet are similar to those of a calf.

  • Ezekiel 1:10 "The form of their faces was that of a man, and each of the four had the face of a lion on the right side, the face of an ox on the left side, and also the face of an eagle."

3. Their body is entirely covered with eyes and they walk straight without ever turning back. Symbolically this means they possess the attributes of YAHWEH: The eyes indicate the mystery of the revelations of the Trinity and represent God who sees all and knows all. The upright walk without ever turning represents the absolute justice and truth of God from which He never turns away.

  • Ezekiel 10:16 "When the cherubim moved, the wheels moved beside them, and even when they spread their wings to rise from the ground, the wheels did not veer away from their side."

  • Ezekiel 10:5-21 "The sound of the wings of the cherubim could be heard as far as the outer court, like the voice of God Almighty when He speaks... The cherubim appeared to have the form of human hands under their wings... Their entire bodies, including their backs, hands, and wings, were full of eyes all around, as were their four wheels... Each of the cherubim had four faces: the first face was that of a cherub, the second that of a man, the third that of a lion, and the fourth that of an eagle..."

The Bible also teaches that the cherubim uphold the throne of YAHWEH and are the official guardians of his throne. In the visions of Ezekiel, the throne of YAHWEH rests above the cherubim. They serve as runners for the heavenly chariot and guard the path to the tree of life.

  • Psalm 80:1 "For the choirmaster. To the tune of “The Lilies of the Covenant.” A Psalm of Asaph. Hear us, O Shepherd of Israel, who leads Joseph like a flock; You who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine forth"

  • Isaiah 37:16 "“O LORD of Hosts, God of Israel, enthroned above the cherubim, You alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth."

  • Genesis 3:24 "So He drove out the man and stationed cherubim on the east side of the Garden of Eden, along with a whirling sword of flame to guard the way to the tree of life."

  • 2 Samuel 22:11-12 "He mounted a cherub and flew; He soared on the wings of the wind. He made darkness a canopy around Him, a gathering of water and thick clouds."

  • Psalm 18:10-11 "He mounted a cherub and flew; He soared on the wings of the wind. He made darkness His hiding place, and storm clouds a canopy around Him."

As stated above the cherubim and their ophanim have four faces: calf, lion, eagle and man. But notice how in Ezekiel 10:14 the calf face of the ophanim is replaced by that of a cherub. Through that verse the Bible establishes a link between the cherub and the calf.  According to the BDB Theological Dictionary, the word cherub is derived either from the Hebrew word kerubh (winged angel) or a variant of the Assyrian adjective karubu (great or powerful). It can also come from the Assyrian word kiribu or sedu, which is the name of the famous winged bull in Assyria: It's a winged bull, calf or cow with a human face.

  • Ezekiel 10:13-14 "I heard the wheels being called “the whirling wheels. Each of the cherubim had four faces: the first face was that of a cherub, the second that of a man, the third that of a lion, and the fourth that of an eagle.

LUCIFER

Lucifer means "light bearer", which describes the time lapse between the morning and evening stars. The central idea is duality, i.e. darkness and light coexisting within the same being. To this effect, it should be noted that originally in the King James Bible Lucifer was called "son of the morning".

  • Isaiah 14:12 "“How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations!" The King |James Bible version 1611|

Interestingly in more recent versions of the Bible, the name Lucifer has been changed to "Star of the morning, son of the dawn". He also went from "he who weakened the nations" to "you who defeated the nations". Is this an honest mistake in translation or a deliberate modification?

  • Isaiah 14:12 “How you have fallen from heaven, You star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, You who defeated the nations!" |New American Standard Bible|

As Jesus is also called the bright morning star, it should be Understood that this type of change confuses many by eliminating any distinction between Jesus and Lucifer.

  • Revelations 22:16 "“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the bright Morning Star.”

Thus, many have rejected the Gospel of Jesus Christ because they are under the impression that Jesus and Lucifer/Satan are one and the same entity. Furthermore, the Bible did not emphasize the need to make a distinction between Lucifer and Satan. And often people do not discern the nuance between the two even though they are two sides of the same coin; but this is mainly due to mistranslations of the Hebrew and to misuse of words.

As previously stated, in the Bible Lucifer is a cherub, but according to some apocryphal books (hidden from the general public), he belongs to the class of Satnâ'êl. This celestial class which belongs to the highest order of celestial entities was created long before the archangels and guardian angels.

  • Ezekiel 28:14-15 "You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for I had ordained you. You were on the holy mountain of God; you walked among the fiery stones. From the day you were created you were blameless in your ways—until wickedness was found in you."

It should be noted that Lucifer is also represented by the Angel Samael - Prince of Demons. He's an important character in Talmudic and post-Talmudic literature, where he appears as an accuser, seducer and destroyer. He is equated with the serpent, carnal desire and the angel of death; whereas as a rebel he is compared to Belial, which means "worthless". He flies through the air like a bird |Targum Job XXVIII. 7|. And while the Seraphim and ophanim have only six wings, he has twelve wings spread out, and commands a whole army of demons.

► In  The Apocalypse of Abraham it is written in chapter 23:4, that the angel of ungodliness who seduces Adam and Eve had 12 wings, 6 on the left and 6 on the right.

► In The Apocalypse of Moses, section The Fall of the Devil in chapter 12:1, The devil reveals to Adam that his wings were more numerous than those of the cherubim."

Note that Lucifer is always depicted as a horned animal such as goat, calf or bull. In the Bible, he's depicted in the image of a beast, an ox. This implies two things:

  1. Either his initial appearance is similar to a horned animal with human characteristics.

  2. Or the image of the ox is used as hyperbole to emphasize that this is a deeply belligerent character, for the head and hooves of the goat symbolize a spirit and actions in total rebellion against ELOHIM.

  • Revelations 14:11 "And the smoke of their torment rises forever and ever. Day and night there is no rest for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.”

  • Psalm 106:19-20 "At Horeb they made a calf and worshiped a molten image. They exchanged their Glory for the image of a grass-eating ox."

Being created beautiful, very intelligent and with an impressive height, he was filled with pride, and began to secretly covet the glory of The Lord.

  • Ezekiel 28: 14-15 "You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones."

He refused to submit to the command of his Creator, stirred up a riot among the celestial beings, and a war broke out in the heavens. The Fathers of the Egyptian and Ethiopian churches discuss the story of Satan's fall in great detail. The following passages give greater detail about the war that broke out in the heavens following the creation of Adam.

¶ Satan, or Satnâêl, was greatly astonished at the beauty and splendor of the sun and moon, and on the Fourth Day of the week he declared to himself that he would set his throne above the stars, and make himself equal to God. One week after the creation of Adam, Satan declared war on the hosts of Almighty God. The angels uttered their battle cries and began to fight, but Satan charged them and dispersed them; they reformed, but again Satan charged them and put them to flight. Then God gave the angels the Cross of Light, which bore the legend, "In the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost." And when they attacked the hosts of darkness under this Cross, Satan became faint, and he and his forces withdrew, and Michael hurled them down into hell.  [From the Book of the Mysteries of Heaven and Earth.]

It's important to emphasize the following points;

  • Lucifer is the first created being who rebelled of his own free will. By virtue of his rebellion he became the Devil by bringing forth Satan: the adversary spirit that opposes everything related to the Most High and the divine essence.

  • Thus, Lucifer is the incarnation of Satan. That spirit dwells in him in all its fullness and depth. Although there is a nuance between the two, one cannot speak of Lucifer without mentioning Satan and vice versa, for it is this association that constitutes the devil, the personification of the supreme spirit of evil.

¶ When Satan saw Adam seated on a great throne, with a crown of glory on his head and a scepter in his hand, and all the angels worshipping him, he was filled with anger. And when God said to him, "Come thou also, for thou shalt worship My image and likeness," Satan refused to do so, and, assuming an arrogant and insolent manner, he said, "It is meet that he should worship me, for I existed before he came into being." When the Father saw his overbearing attitude, He knew that Satan's wickedness and rebellion had reached their highest pitch. He ordered the celestial soldiers to take from him the written authority that was in his hand, to strip off his armor, and to hurl him down from heaven to earth. Satan was the greatest of the angels, and God had made him the Commander-in-Chief of the celestial hosts, and in the document which Satan held in his hand were written the names of all the angels under his command. Knowing their names, his authority over them was absolute. When God saw that the angels hesitated to take the document from him, He commanded them to bring a sharp reaping-knife, and to stab him on this side and that, right through his body to the backbone and shoulder blades; and Satan could no longer stand upright. And a Cherub smote him, and broke his wings and his ribs, and having rendered him helpless he cast Satan down from Heaven upon the earth. Then he became the Arch-Devil and the leader of those who were cast out of heaven with him, and who henceforth were devils. |From Budge, Coptic Martyrdoms, page 484]

¶ And when the prince of the lower order of angels saw what great majesty had been given unto Adam, he was jealous of him from that day, and he did not wish to worship him. And he said unto his hosts, "Ye shall not worship him, and ye shall not praise him with the angels. It is meet that ye should worship me, because I am fire and spirit; and not that I should worship a thing of dust, which hath been fashioned of fine dust." And the Rebel meditating these things would not render obedience to God, and of his own free will he asserted his independence and separated himself from God. But he was swept away out of heaven and fell, and the fall of himself and of all his company from heaven took place on the  Sixth Day, at the second hour of the day. And the apparel of their glorious state was stripped off them. And his name was called "Sâtânâ" because he turned aside [from the right way], and "Shêdâ" because he was cast out, and "Daiwâ" because he lost the apparel of his glory. And behold, from that time until the present day, he and all his hosts have been stripped of their apparel, and they go naked and have horrible faces. And when Sâtânâ was cast out from heaven, Adam was raised up so that he might ascend to Paradise in a chariot of fire. And the angels went before him, singing praises, and the Seraphim ascribed holiness unto him, and the Cherubim ascribed blessing; and amid cries of joy and praises Adam went into [Fol. 6a, col. 1] Paradise. And as soon as Adam entered Paradise he was commanded not to eat of a [certain] tree; his entrance into Paradise took place at the third hour of the Eve of the Sabbath (i.e. on Friday morning). |The Book of the The Cave of Treasures -  The Revolt of Satan and the Battle in Heaven|

Seeing how he was driven out of the heavenly places and Adam seated on a throne of glory, the devil was overcome with jealousy. He swore that Adam and his descendants will suffer his vengeful heart until the end of times. He convinced the serpent to serve as his instrument, then using a mystical possession by devilry, Satan the spirit that dwells in him, took possesion of the serpent and managed to awaken in Eve the same desires as Lucifer: domination and autonomy. Eve allowed herself to be seduced and deceived, and then led Adam into deception.

¶ The devil began to cry with forced tears and the devil told Adam: "O Adam, all the greed and the anger and all the grief of my heart are directed against you because it was through you that I fell from my dwellings, it was by you that I was alienated from my own throne. My wings were more numerous than those of the Cherubim, and I concealed myself under them. Because of you, now my feet walk on the earth, which I would never have believed."

Adam replied to the devil and told him: "What is my fault, by which I have done all that to you?"

The devil replied to him and told him: "You did nothing to me, but it is because of you that I have fallen upon the earth. The very day when you were created, on that day, I fell from before the face of ELOHIM, because when ELOHIM breathed a spirit onto your face, you had the image and likeness of the divinity. And then Michael came; he presented you and made you bend down before ELOHIM. And ELOHIM told Michael, "I have created Adam according to my image and my divinity. Then Michael came; he summoned all the troops of angels and told them, "Bow down before the likeness and the image of the divinity. And then, when Michael summoned them and all had bowed down to you, he summoned me also. And I told him: "Go away from me, for I shall not bow down to him who is younger than me. Why is it proper for me to bow down to him? indeed, I am master prior to him and it is proper for him to bow down to me. The six classes of other angels heard that and my speech pleased them and they did not bow down to you. Then ELOHIM became angry with us and commanded us, them and me, to be cast down from our dwellings to the earth. As for you, he commanded you to dwell in the Garden. When I had realized that I had fallen by your power that I was in distress and you were in rest, then I aimed at hunting you so that I might alienate you from the Garden of Delights, just as I had been alienated because of you. |From the Apocalypse of Moses: The Fall of the devil - Chap 12.1 - 16.3|

Although he has lost his former beautiful appearance, ELOHIM did not take away his ability to transform himself, this ability is an attribute of celestial beings. Thus, taking advantage of our love for divine enlightment and in order to deceive us, he uses this ability to lead us into believing he's benevolent, truthful, loving and powerful.

  • 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 "And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their actions.

SATAN

It's the spirit of wickedness and rebellion that has the ability to possess. Just as the Holy Spirit can simultaneously inhabit multiple believers and place his seal on them, so Satan can simultaneously possess multiple bodies in collaboration with demons.

It should be noted that in the Apocalypse of Abraham, a clear distinction is made between ungodliness (the spirit of evil) and Lucifer (the crafty adversary).

¶ And He said: “This is the human world, this is Adam, and this is their desire upon the earth, this is Eve; but he who is between them representeth ungodliness, their beginning (on the way) to perdition, even Azazel... I saw Adam, and Eve existing with him, and with them the cunning Adversary, and Cain who acted lawlessly through the Adversary, and the slaughtered Abel, (and) the destruction brought and caused upon him through the lawless one. |Apocalypse d’Abraham chap 23 & 24|

Thus we are talking about two entities: Lucifer the cherub leader of the rebels and Satan the evil spirit who possessed all rebellious celestial beings. Lucifer, Satan the spirit and all the rest of the rebels were cast out of the holy heavenly places.

  • Revelations 12:7-9 "Then a war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But the dragon was not strong enough, and no longer was any place found in heaven for him and his angels. And the great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.

  • Luke 10:18 "So He told them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven."

  • Ezekiel 28:13-19 "You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for I had ordained you. You were on the holy mountain of God; you walked among the fiery stones... So I drove you in disgrace from the mountain of God, and I banished you, O guardian cherub... I reduced you to ashes on the ground..."

Note that both Luciferians and Satanists have a very understanding of the nuance between Lucifer and Satan. Therefore, Luciferians in particular do not like to be equated with Satanists.

Satanists:

  • Do not worship Satan as a creature but rather as an emblem of man's carnal nature. Therefore, they concentrate on sensuality, material possessions, pride, and freedom; experiencing everything their carnal nature has to offer.

Luciferians:

For the Luciferians, on the other hand, Lucifer is a spiritual being whom they want to emulate. They say he is the illuminated and awakened one who has chosen individualism rather than idolizing his creator; according to them he rises above mere materiality. The Luciferians consider their objectives to be greater and more spiritual than the Satanists, whom they consider too carnal. Luciferians have a strong presence in the largest institutions and the majority are influential people in high places within society. When you hear about the New World Order, it is the work of the Luciferians.

Although their views are nuanced, both groups have the common ground below:

  • They speak of human beings as gods, having control over the planet.

  • They do not believe that man is a created being, but rather a stardust, a bacteria or an animal that emerged from the nothingness and evolved.

  • They believe in the duality of the mankind, which they represent by the colors black/white.

  • They are antagonistic towards Christianity because according to them, YAHWEH is oppressive, vindictive, cruel and arbitrary. They claim that Christians submit to a demanding deity who commits spiritual blackmail by threatening to damn the disobedient.

  • They deny the trinity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  • They encourage anything that goes against the laws of YAHWEH.

  • They do not subscribe to the concepts of "good" or "evil", and therefore they do not perceive Satan or Lucifer as embodiments of evil.

  • They do not believe in heaven or hell.

AZAZEL

At the end of the time of the Second Temple, the association of Azazel as a fallen angel remained partly in Christianity and Islam.

According to non-biblical sources, among others the Apocalypse of Abraham, Azazel is the godless lord of hell, seducer of mankind.

Azazel in the Bible

Azazel (Hebrew ‛ăzā'zē), which means "departure" or "rapture," is used in Scripture in reference to the annual ceremonial scapegoat rite that was offered as a sacrifice to maintain the holiness of the sanctuary, purify Israel, and atone for their sins.

On the way to the promised land, YAHWEH gave the law to Moses and asked Aaron to sacrifice two goats. The first goat was offered as a sacrifice for the atonement of sins, while the second goat carried the sins of the people, which had been transferred through prayer.

Contrary to popular belief, in the Bible the goat of Azazel does not represent Christ, for a number of reasons:

1) The scapegoat is used in opposition to YAHWEH, and is also the opposite of YAHWEH:

  • Leviticus 16:8 "After Aaron casts lots for the two goats, one for the LORD and the other for the scapegoat"

2) The blood of the goat offered to the Lord was poured out to purify the sanctuary entirely before the scapegoat was introduced into the ritual.

3) The goat offered to the Lord was presented as a burnt offering atonement. As the goat was kept alive, the high priest placed his hands on the head of the goat, symbolically imputed to it the sins of the children of Israel and then released the goat into the wilderness by a strong man.

  • Leviticus 16:10 "But the goat chosen by lot as the scapegoat shall be presented alive before the LORD to make atonement by sending it into the wilderness as the scapegoat."

  • Leviticus 16:21-22 "Then he is to lay both hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the iniquities and rebellious acts of the Israelites in regard to all their sins. He is to put them on the goat’s head and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man appointed for the task. The goat will carry on itself all their iniquities into a solitary place, and the man will release it into the wilderness."

Azazel according to the Book of Enoch

According to the Book of Enoch, which was removed from the Catholic canon in the 4th century but preserved by rabbinic Judaism and the Ethiopian and Eritrean Orthodox churches, Azazel is the instigating angel and leader of the angels who led the pre-flood world to perdition.

After the fall of Lucifer/Satan (the spirit of evil), Adam and Eve are placed in the Garden of Eden to dwell in it. Filled with covetousness, Satan influences the serpent who deceives Eve, who in turn deceives Adam. All of them are cursed, cast out of the Garden and cast down to inhabit the earth. Adam and Eve begin to procreate and the human race starts to multiply. YAHWEH assigns a number of angels to watch over mankind because they are not safe from Lucifer/Satan (the spirit of evil), however, this group of angels (called the watchers) fell in love with some human women. Azazel incited his companions to engage in illicit sexual relations with some women and they gave birth to giants.

  • Genesis 6:2 "The sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they took as wives whomever they chose."

  • Genesis 6:4 "The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and afterward as well—when the sons of God had relations with the daughters of men. And they bore them children who became the mighty men of old, men of renown."

In the Testament of Reuben son of Jacob, it is written that these angels would take on human forms with considerable sexual organs and would appear to these women while they were having intimate relations with their husbands. These appearances aroused in these women the sexual desire for the angels. Interestingly the Ethiopian Book of Mysteries of Heaven and the Earth mentions that angels do have male sexual organs and their are only male.

And for a proof that the angels have a penis, listen to what the prophet Ezekiel says: “With two of their wings, they cover their faces; with other two, they cover their feet; with two others they hide their hands; and with two others, they hide their penis.” Know then that the angels have a penis and that there aren’t of them males and females. They do not give birth and are not given birth to. [From the Book of the Mysteries of Heaven and Earth.]

Apart from fornication and adultery, the angels taught their human concubines all kinds of arts: the making of the sword, the shield and the breastplate, the making of jewels, make-up, the importance and the use of precious stones, witchcraft and the concoction of potions and herbal remedies, astrology... (the book of Enoch chapter 8).

YAHWEH imputed all sins to Azazel, and kept him in chains until the end of time

  • The Book of Enoch chap10:4-6 "And further the Lord said to Raphael: "Bind Azazel by his hands and his feet and throw him into the darkness. And split open the desert, which is in Dudael, and throw him there. And throw on him jagged and sharp stones and cover him with darkness. And let him stay there forever. And cover his face so that he may not see the light. And so that, on the Great Day of Judgment, he may be hurled into the fire."

  • Jude 1:6 "And the angels who did not stay within their own domain but abandoned their proper dwelling—these He has kept in eternal chains under darkness, bound for judgment on that great day."

  • 2 Peter 2:4 "For if God did not spare the angels when they sinned, but cast them deep into hell, placing them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment"

In order to purify the earth from the teachings of Azazel, YAHWEH commanded to open the floodgates of the heavens and that a worldwide flood sweep away the entire world except for Noah, his wife, his 3 sons and their wives, as well as some couples of animals. This was done to ensure the continuation of life on earth.

May the Holy Spirit guide you in the understanding of this message. 🙏
