Jesus became sin

It is not uncommon to hear some pastors preach that on the cross YESHUA became Sin itself, in other words He became everything that is abominable, vile, despicable, monstrous, repulsive, etc. 

Some go as far as saying that on the cross YESHUA became lust, perversion, child abuser, filthy greed, genocidal maniac, etc., to the point that YAHWEH could no longer look upon Him and forsook Him on the cross. 

Now this is blasphemy and it's not what the Bible teaches.

As a matter of fact, such heresies are strongly rejected by many scholars who call it "manifest error" or "error of judgment", insisting that such beliefs would overturn the whole nature of "imputation", because YESHUA could not be defiled through the imputation of man's sin onto Him.

In order to eliminate any misconceptions, let us clarify the true significance of "imputation".

When the Bible says He became "SIN by imputation", it means that He was made responsible, in terms of His own voluntary commitment, without being defiles by any moral wrongdoings, transgressions of men, or the endurance of man's iniquities. He did not bear the defilements of sin, but it was the penalty of sin, and only that penalty, that Christ took upon himself for the sake of the repenting soul. In other words, the penalty of our transgressions was imputed to Him as if He was guilty of all the sins committed by those who would put their faith in Him, though He committed none.

Consider this analogy: A baby is born and violently beaten and killed for the murders committed by an old serial killer in the neighborhood. The baby remains forever innocent but paid with his life so that the old murderer would not be convicted.

• 2 Corinthians 5:21 "For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."

This means that when we sin and repent, our transgression is substituted by the sacrifice of the lamb to pay our penalty and cover our iniquities.

Another mistake is to believe that we are all automatically under divine grace. Indeed, this privilege is reserved only to those who accept YESHUA as their only God and Savior worthy of praise and repent of their transgressions.

• John 17:8-9 "For I have given them the words You gave Me, and they have received them. They knew with certainty that I came from You, and they believed that You sent Me. I ask on their behalf. I do not ask on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those You have given Me; for they are Yours."

• Romans 3:25 "God presented Him as the atoning sacrifice through faith in His blood, in order to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance He had passed over the sins committed beforehand."

• Acts 13:37-39 "But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption. Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses."
